An impressive higonokami folding knife custom made by Mitsuo Nagao from Aogami 2 high carbon steel. This is a model we had custom made for us, the 11B/K is a popular model but some wanted a larger blade, we’ve had this knife made in the larger size and the same cool finish, we’re loving it.

Japanese Folding Knife | Nagao Higonokami

Higonokami are a small non-locking Japanese folding knife, they have a smart and simple design which has remained unchanged for over 160 years. There are many variations of this robust knife, varying from key-ring sized knives, right up to larger custom made and vintage collectible Damascus steel variants. The majority are made from high carbon steel able to hold a very sharp edge, and crafted with brass handles which will last a lifetime.

At one point in time, every school student of Japan carried these knives to sharpen their pencils. Today they are used as utility knives, in woodworking and even in the kitchen or for food on the run.

The brand Nagao is the last true Higonokami, crafted in Japan under Nagao San, the last remaining blacksmith of the guild permitted to make genuine Higonokami knives.
